David Balaj, DVM
Dr. Balaj is a 1987 graduate of Michigan State University who has expertise in advanced surgical procedures, laser surgery, and oncology, including chemotherapy. He joined Harper Woods Veterinary Hospital in 1987.
Nancy Pillsbury, DVM
Dr. Pillsbury graduated from Michigan State University in 1993.
Dr. Pillsbury is an excellent surgeon, and has a special interest in Low Intensity Therapeutic Laser techniques.
Jennifer Khalifah, DVM
Dr. Khalifah is a 1997 graduate of Michigan State University. She enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, but has an additional interest in internal medicine and general surgery. She joined the staff of Harper Woods Veterinary Hospital in 2016.
Stephanie Dexter, DVM
Dr. Brooks, DVM
Dr. Brooks is a 2020 graduate of the Ontario Veterinary College. Growing up in the Grosse Pointe area, she first stepped foot into the clinic as a child as we’ve been blessed to have her and her family as clients for many years! Dr. Brooks officially joined our clinic as a veterinarian in 2021.
Rae Quimby, DVM
Andrea graduated from Central Michigan University in 2004. Her passion for pet care extends beyond being a practice manager. For over 20 years, Andrea has worked with animals, including pet retail, veterinary medicine, and rescue groups. When she’s not at the practice, Andrea enjoys spending time with her children and two dogs.
MaryLou began at Harper Woods Veterinary Hospital in 1995. She is well known to many long time clients, and very much enjoys the relationships built with people and their pets. MaryLou is a true asset to the practice by helping to keep the front desk running smoothly and efficiently. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her grandchildren and traveling to tropical locations with her husband, Jerry.
Julie received her degree in Veterinary Technology from Macomb Community College in 1996 and started at Harper Woods Veterinary Hospital shortly thereafter. She became our Clinical Manager in 2014, and while she still works as a veterinary technician she also oversees our clinical management and patient care. In her spare time she loves to camp, craft, and spend time with her husband and son.
Tabitha started at Harper Woods Vet in 1998 and has been in the field as a veterinary technician since 1990. Her calm and caring personality, along with her experience, allow her to provide exceptional care to both our patients and their pet parents. In her spare time she loves crafting and camping with her husband and daughter.
Denise graduated with her degree in Veterinary Technology from Macomb Community College and has been with Harper Woods Veterinary Hospital since 1996. Her bubbly personality shines through as she finds her job extremely rewarding and loves being able to help both clients and their pets. She enjoys traveling to northern Michigan and spending time with her husband on Lake St Clair in the summertime.
Lynsey started with us in 2005 as a Kennel Assistant, and has since worked her way up the ranks to Veterinary Assistant. Lynsey has a true love for animals and is a top-notch and hardworking member of our team, bringing much value to the practice. When she isn’t at work, she enjoys shopping and going to the movies with her friends.
After several years already under her belt in the animal care industry, June came on board with us in 2012 as our Kennel Manager. She has a true knack for being able to settle and calm our furry friends, while ensuring they are well cared for and comfortable during their stay with us. When June isn’t at work, she enjoys sculpting and caring for her many pets, including two tortoises!
In 2016, Madisyn came on board as a Kennel Assistant here at Harper Woods Vet. Her amazing work ethic and ability to care for pets has proved to be a valuable asset to us and our hospitalized patients. Madisyn hopes to attend college and pursue a degree in nursing over the next few years.
